KATHMANDU: Standard Charted Bank Nepal is organising its annual fund raising event ‘Walkathon’ on Saturday. “This initiative is to raise funds in partnership with our stakeholders and to increase awareness amongst the public on the subject of blindness in an effort to reduce stigma and encourage the visually challenged people,” as per a press statement issued on Friday. The organisers are expecting about 450 participants for the event. The event has received sponsorships from Tara Management, National Insurance Co Ltd, Viswakarma Cements Pvt Ltd, Umrao Data Centre, Nepal Dhaka Udhyog Pvt Ltd and various other organisations. The 5km-long walkathon will begin from the bank’s branch office at Lazimpat and take the route of Lainchaur, Durbarmarg, Bhadrakali, Sahidgate, Tripureshwor, Thapathali, Maitighar before ending at the bank’s head office in Naya Baneshwor.
