Swiss grant of Rs 500m for Nepal

Kathmandu, November 9:

The government of Switzerland has agreed to provide a grant assistance of about Rs 500 million to the government of Nepal for the implementation of Districts Roads Support Programme Phase III.

An agreement to this effect was signed between the government of Nepal and the government of Switzerland at the ministry of finance, today. The major goal of the programme is to contribute to improved livelihoods of the discriminated and poor within the rural population.

The programme aims at achieving outputs like extension of accessibility to motorable roads to the remote rural population in all participating districts, enhancing livelihoods of disadvantaged groups living in the road corridors, strengthening local level institutional structure and capacity to construct, maintain and operate the rural road network in a equitable and inclusive way. The programme will cover six districts of Kavrepalanchowk, Sindhupalchok, Dolakha, Ramechhap, Sindhuli and Okhaldhunga.
