Tata Motors to start ‘Test-Drive Campaign for Education’

Kathmandu, September 7

Tata Motors, with its authorised distributor Sipradi Trading, has announced a ‘Test-Drive Campaign for Education’ starting September 10.

Under ‘Test-Drive Campaign for Education’, Tata Motors will display their latest cars — Tiago, Bolt and Zest — in several schools across the country as per a pre-decided schedule.

As its corporate social responsibility, for each test-drive conducted in these schools, Tata Motors shall donate Rs 500 to the school, which can be used by the school as needed for scholastic purposes or facility improvement, according to a media release issued today.

“This is a unique campaign to promote education in Nepal. We hope that thousands of people will come forward to support this test-drive campaign so that a large number of schools and needy students will benefit,” Saurav Raj Thapaliya, vice president of Sipradi Trading has been quoted as saying.

The test-drive campaign will start from Gems School in Sanepa and Dhapakhel on Saturday.

The school has already developed a plan to use the generated funds for the benefit of the needy.

The programme will be rolled out in more schools in the course of the coming weeks.

“The primary reason that deprives children of education is the financial constraints faced by their families. We are trying to do our bit by conducting this test-dive campaign in a

way that allows schools to strengthen their scholarship funds so that they can extend the benefits of education to those students who need it the most,” the release has quoted Hemant Puranik, country manager for Nepal, Tata Motors, as saying.

According to UNICEF, only seven out of 10 children enrolled in first grade reach fifth grade and more than half of them drop out of school even before reaching the lower secondary school level.

Sipradi Trading is the sole authorised distributor for Tata vehicles in Nepal with over 30 showrooms and over 45 service outlets in the country.
