Tatopani-Barhabise road resumes
KATHMANDU: The obstructed Barhabise-Tatopani road section along the Araniko Highway has resumed today.
The section was blocked due to landslides triggered by the devastating April 25 earthquake.
The vehicles laden with goods have entered Nepal from this historical border point on Wednesday, according the Rastriya Samachar Samiti (RSS).
The RSS report quoted Ram Bahadur Gurung, an engineer at the Charikot Road Division Office, as saying that the Division had initiated to open the 26-km road on last Friday.
The passenger buses, cargo trucks and vans have arrived at the Mitari Bridge, said Gurung.
He further said that dozers, excavators and loaders among 10 machinery were used to clear the road.
According to Ram Hari Pokhrel, another engineer of the Office, more budget has been requested from higher authoritative for additional machinery.
The RSS said locals have become happy after resumption of the road.
