UTL phones start ringing in Birgunj
Kathmandu, February 13:
After its successful launching of commercial operations in Hetauda, United Telecom Ltd (UTL), the country’s first private telecom player, will be starting its operations in Birgunj from tomorrow, states a press release.
Birgunj happens to be UTL’s second expansion outside Kathmandu valley. “In Birgunj, it would be providing CDMA limited mobile service with a call rate of one rupee per min-ute (local call to UTL and NT) and monthly rental of Rs 100 (including 30 free local calls within UTL and to NT fixed line).”
The company claims to have built up a state of the art CDMA network in Birgunj to facilitate the customers in Birgunj. It would be providing both basic telephones ( Fixed Wireless Telephones) as well as limited mobile (mobile sets) telephones.
As an inaugural offer, UTL will provide its mobi-le connection for Rs 2,525 in Birgunj (including government ownership tax of Rs 1,500 and other applicable taxes) with a good quality CDMA mobile set.
