UWTC to formally open from Baisakh 1

United World Trade Centre (UWTC), Nepal’s largest business complex, has planned its formally opening for the New Year’s day, on Baishakh 1 (April 14).
Hundreds of workers and engineers are working tirelessly every day in giving finishing touches to the UWTC complex to be officially opened on the Nepali New Year day, said Sukunta Lal Hirachan, managing director of UWTC.
Located at Tripureswor, the complex will be the first among the existing commercial complexes in Nepal to have all facilities and modern amenities under a roof.
Briefing media persons here today, he further said that UWTC is built and developed by United Builders & Engineers (P) Ltd on about 11 ropani of land owned by Tribhuvan University, at Tripureswor opposite of the Dashrath Stadium, under a lease agreement for 32 years.
UWTC will have 200,000 sq-feet of usable space and enough care has been taken to make it an international standard trade centre. High alert security with CC-TV, pure drinking water as per WHO’s quality standard, 24-hour power supply with generator backup, fire-fighting system and accidental insurance are some of salient features of this ultra-modern complex.
The complex can accommodate about 1000 vehicles at its spacious underground parking lot. On top of that large goods and transportation vehicles can also be taken to storage godowns built within the complex.
“The six-storey building has three main entrances, four lifts and six escalators allowing free and uninterrupted movement of people and goods,” Hirachan informed.
Water fountains, open display area, departmental stores, video-game parlour, food and beauty parlours, health club with Jacuzzi, sauna, steam bath, aerobic, gym, swimming pool,and bank, party palace, cyber café, home theatre and a media centre will make UWTC a vibrant and lively place to visit, he further said.
Hirachan also informed that more than Rs 500 million has been spent for the construction of
the complex.
“Nepal Investment Bank and Himalayan Bank Ltd are the financers. More than 175 companies have booked space in the complex for their businesses and services,” he said adding that there is no vacant space left.
“The complex is built under public private partnership (PPP) agreement and will be handed over to TU after the lease agreement period expires after 30 years,” he said.
“Besides, the promoter and developer will pay Rs 200 million to TU.”
