Within inverted commas : CA poll is a must
At this point of time, key concern for every Nepali is to see the successful completion of the Constituent Assembly (CA) elections on the stipulated date. Once the elections are over, the new parliament would be in an amicable position to crack down all issues.
Besides this, the law and order situation coupled with security issues, insufficient supply of fuel and exorbitant cost of market commodities are the major issues that have been plaguing the country for more than a year and need immediate attention of the newly elected parliament.
For now, the economic base is too poor and fragile. Beside tourism, we are largely dependent on foreign remittances.
Manpower export and its remittance is transitory. Any international disorder may create unemployment of Nepali workers in the international job market forcing them to return home.
Unfortunately, the much talked about hydropower sector has been a big hype in the name of our future economic engine.
There is a huge cash crunch in the financial sectors which is again an alarming situation for economic development. Industries and trades are facing major downturn every day.
Talking of solution, I feel policy makers, political parties and civil societies should have one voice on the economic revolution in the country. Politics alone cannot solve the problems. They should priorities on building SME’s through entrepreneurship of youths as a major force for economic development. We should have our own domestic products of food, consumer goods and technology to compete in the global markets.
‘Quality human resources’ is the need of the day to stimulate institutional capability and competitiveness for a stronger economy.
