Google celebrates Guru Purnima with Nepal

KATHMANDU: As Nepal celebrates the scared bond between students and teachers — students paying homage to their teachers — on the occasion of Guru Purnima on July 31, Google celebrated this special occasion along with Nepal dedicating its doodle to this day.

The Internet search giant redesigned its homepage logo — known as Google Doodle — to honour Teacher’s Day of Nepal. The very interesting homepage features an animated sketch — of two hands solving a mathematical equation, various geometrical figures, musical symbols, human brain among others.

The early sketch and animation of this Doodle has been created by Doodler Olivia Huynhon.

As the sketch on the homage is clicked, it leads to a list of Teacher’s Day related links — one of them being Teacher’s Day 2015 (Nepal). And this page has Confucius quote — A true teacher is one who, keeping the past alive, is also able to understand the present.

The Doodle further mentions, “Teachers are our mentors, friends, and catalysts. They’re the wild, eager sparks that can, with a word, set our passions ablaze. Not quite parents, they nevertheless raise us to be the very best versions of ourselves. And their impressions last lifetimes, as the lessons we’ve learned are passed down to others, like inheritances of wisdom. On Friday, let’s celebrate teachers, one of the noblest and most selfless of callings, all across Nepal. Happy Teacher’s Day!”

Earlier, on May 29, Google doodled to “honour the stre-ngth and resilience of the people of Nepal” on the occasion of Nepal’s Republic Day.
