1974 AD rides On Air
KATHMANDU: They are back with a bang! The most popular and loved rock band of Nepal, 1974 AD has launched their seventh album On Air at a special gathering at Moksha on January 5. The album is produced and marketed by Santana records. The launch was managed by PartyNepal.
Songs of the album ranges from classic ballads to rock to folk rock and fusion. According to Sanjay Shrestha, one of the band members, the maturity that the band has attained with time is reflected in this album. For the first time, percussionist Sanjay has lend his voice in a song called Swargadapi Gariyesi.
They had written some of the songs during the Jana Andolan II. With these songs the band is trying to translate their feelings about the historic event of the country. The song Aja Bholi gives the message about unity among people for a better tomorrow of the country.
Talking to this daily, band member Phiroj Shyangden said, “Aja Bholi is my favourite number as the song has a nice message.” They have also dedicated a special number named Khelau to all the sports persons of Nepal.
Continuing the Chyangba tradition, they have included Chyangba III in this album as well. The album also has a special instrumental piece called Irish Coffee, which is a fusion of Nepali folk, Irish folk and contemporary rock.
