KATHMANDU, MARCH 17

The Supreme Court (SC) is set to hear, on Thursday, a writ petition challenging the decision to withdraw money laundering and organized crime cases against Rastriya Swatantra Party (RSP) President Rabi Lamichhane.

The hearing on the petitions began last Sunday before a divisional bench comprising Justices Saranga Subedi and Sunil Kumar Pokharel.

As the hearing could not be concluded today, Supreme Court spokesperson Arjun Prasad Koirala said it has been scheduled to resume on March 19 (Thursday).

Earlier, a divisional bench of Justices Sapana Pradhan Malla and Shrikanta Paudel had ordered that the petition be listed for regular hearing on March 15.

It is worth noting that Attorney General Sabita Bhandari Baral had decided to withdraw the money laundering and organized crime cases filed against Lamichhane during the tenure of the previous government.

Challenging this decision, Yubaraj Paudel, senior advocate Dinesh Tripathi, and advocate Abhas Regmi have filed separate writ petitions at the Supreme Court.
