A blast at ASMAN mela

KATHMANDU: The ground of St Xavier’s School, Jawalakhel was teeming with attention-grabbing lasses and brawny guys as the Association of St Mary’s Alumnae Nepal (ASMAN) had organised its annual mela on March 17. The mela was inaugurated by Uma Katwal.

It was a fun filled afternoon with more than 70 stalls displaying wares from handicrafts, jewellry to sarees and shawls, bags and shoes and even a Marriage Booth and Fortune Teller.

Time just seemed to fly by for those moving from one stall to the other. And, of course, one could not restrain from savouring delicacies offered by some of the best food joints around town.

Also, army dogs proving their flair with various tricks and jumping through hoops of fire got the crowd hooked.

The Kids Zone had children swarming in who were evidently having an incredibly enjoyable time. The exuberance exhibited by them was truly amazing.

Some of the country’s well liked singers Nima Rumba, Sugam Pokhrel, Nirnaya Da NSK, Nalina Chitrakar, Saroj Dutta, Mingma Sherpa and Jabeek also entertained the crowd with their ever popular numbers and electrifying performances. The proceeds of the event, which is supported by Himalayan Distillery, will be donated to ASMAN Women Skill Development Fund (AWSDF).
