After 56 years

After reading an article that referred to Ranu Devi Adhikari as the first women singer of Nepal, Sumit Khadka and Shanker Kharel were inspired to do a song with her.
In 2007 BS, she had sung a revolutionary song titled Jage Nepali, Uthe Nepali. A documentary titled Chhapana Barsha Pachhi was screened at Gurukul on January 20 that features Adhikari’s first song as well as a new song, which she has sung for peace.
The lyrics have been written by Khadka and the music composition is done by Kharel himself.
Their search led them to discover that Adhikari had disappeared from the music field and had been teaching in a school for the last 30 years.
On their request, she finally sang a song for peace after 56 years. The documentation of her first song and her latest venture, and her melodious voice gives life to the documentary which is 15 minutes long.
