Animal stories
Russian Blues are elegant and beautiful cat breeds with slender body. Their most distinctive feature is the beautiful double coat that is silky, plush, and so dense it stands out from the body. You can literally draw pictures in the fur with your fingers and the patterns will remain until you smooth them over or until your feline friend tires of the game and walks off. The coat’s guard hairs bear silver tipping that reflects light, giving the coat a silver sheen. The slight upturn to the corners of the mouth makes most Russian Blues appear to be forever smiling.
The head is wedged shaped and is short from the tip of the nose to the eyes. They have almond-shaped green eyes and wide-set ears. The legs are long and the feet are small and neat and the cat walks as if on tiptoes. The tail is long and tapering.
Russian Blues are gentle, adaptable and quiet cats, at home in any situation. They will get along with everyone and anything, as they quickly become members of the whole family. They are non-demanding and loveable in all situations. They like to spend time retrieving a favourite toy or chasing sunbeams. They willingly entertain themselves, but prefer that their favourite humans join in the fun.
Coat colour
These breeds are of solid blue-grey colour with a silvery sheen. A lighter shade of blue is preferred.
Temperament
Russian Blues are quite content to be house cats as long as they have the company of their human friends. They like their usual routine and dislike environmental changes more than the average cat. They particularly dislike changes to their dinner schedule.
Lifespan
They live for about 15 years.
Pet grooming
Russian Blues do not require much grooming to keep the coat healthy but they do love attention and brushing with a soft brush will be enjoyed.
