Artscape : Saying it with flowers

KATHMANDU: Veteran poet Durga Lal Shrestha inaugurated a joint photo-and-flower exhibition at Sara-swati Kunj Secondary School on October 19.

Seventeen Japanese tourists have staged an exhibition of about 50 photographs depicting different aspects of Nepali life celebrating 50 years of Nepal-Japan diplomatic relations. Raja Ratna Sthapit, representative of the cross-cultural media at the Japanese Embassy said, “The photographs portray Nepal through the perspective of Japanese tourists.” Also present at the exhibition was second secretary of Japanese embassy Daiji Sasai.

Out of hundreds of photographs submitted, only 50 were selected, which according to Sthapit best represents Nepal. However, it was Nakamichi Fumiyo’s solo flower exhibition that took centre stage, which is made up of different arrangements from bouquets to vases.

(The exhibition is on till October 20)
