Ash-Abhishek engaged, to visit Kerela temple
Kathmandu:
Bollywood’s hottest pair Abhishek Bachchan and Aishwarya Rai, who were engaged Sunday, are to visit Kerala’s well-known Sree Krishna Temple in Guruvayoor in early February.
Abhishek’s parents — Amitabh and Jaya Bachchan, will accompany the couple said K.V. Nambiar, president of the Guruvayoor Devasom. “We were told about their visit from Mumbai though the exact dates would be communicated when their programme is finalised. It would happen in the first week of next month,” Nambiar said.
According to speculations, Amitabh is likely to give an elephant as an offering to the temple. Abhishek and Aishwarya were engaged at the Bachchans’ residence in Mumbai Sunday. Rumours had been flying fast for the past few months that she and Abhishek were about to tie the knot. These reports gained added currency after Aishwarya accompanied Abhishek and his parents to perform rituals at a Varanasi temple in November 2006. The engagement came nearly one-and-half months after Abhishek and Aishwarya Rai, accompanied by Amitabh and Jaya, offered prayers at the Kashi Vishwanath Temple and Sankatmochan Temple in Varanasi on November 26, heightening speculation about a marriage between the younger Bachchan and the actress.
However, there was no immediate word on the wedding date, industry sources said, adding Abhishek popped the question after the international premiere in Toronto Friday of Bollywood film “Guru” featuring the duo in the lead roles.
