Bands and singers gear up for carnival

Fair and Lovely — Women Beyond Tomorrow’ carnival is organised by Fair and Lovely in association with The Himalayan Times and Hyatt Regency. The event is scheduled for March 14 at Hyatt Regency premises.

The melody makers — Sugam Pokharel, Dipesh Kishor Bhattarai, Jems Pradhan, Kamal Man Singh, Saroj Dutta and Deepak Maharjan will entertain live.

The back up band supporting all of them will be Little Star. The event also highlights Dj session and live band RISA.

The preparation by back up band along with the singers is in full swing, the session stretching for hours and Little Star Shrestha, bass guitarist of the band informs, “The practise is going well. Usually to celebrate any day, there used to be rallies or seminars but no one had thought about entertainment to commemorate a day like this.”

Other members of Little Star Band are Bhupendra Bajracharya in lead guitar, Pavit Maharjan in keyboard and Indra Man Singh in drum.

Little Star Shrestha will also be deejaying and shares that he will be experimenting with different flavours of music. “I will be creating a fusion of mixing western and Nepali music and I am sure people will love the blend!”

The live band RISA is also busy practicing for the event. The band comprises Naresh Maharjan in bass guitar and vocal, Bizu Karmacharya in lead guitar and vocal, Rakesh Maharajan in drums and tabala and Dev Tandukar in rhythm guitar and keyboard.

Naresh says, “We will be singing our songs along with English numbers. The carnival will be full of entertainment and RISA promises not to let you down.” Part of the money collected would be donated to a charity.
