Biggest plane nearer to take-off

BROUGHTON: The world’s biggest passenger jet is a step closer to taking off now that its 45-metre wings have been completed. The wings, which will be fitted to the 555-passenger A380 aeroplane, were made in Broughton, north Wales. The wings, each weighing 38 tonnes, will be transported by road and sea to the French city of Toulouse, where the equipment will be tested. It’s hoped the super-jumbo — made by the firm Airbus — will be ready to take off on its first flight in 2005. The A380 will have two decks and two aisles.
