Blues on the run

KATHMANDU: A series of Blues nights is on. Happy hours for all Blues music fanatics, Himalayan Blues Festival 2009 is starting from

October 7 till 11.

Promoting the Blues music trend in Nepal, this annual musical festival has always endeavoured to integrate Blues music with Nepali folklore music. For this very reason, various international artistse are called upon every year and this year too the trend is still the same.

Along with Nepali local artistes, artistes from nations like US, Australia, Norway, New Zealand, Norway, India and UK are being brought together to celebrate this event to the fullest.

Mukti and Revival, Looza and few other bands will be performing with international guest artistes at various venues around town.

This 3rd edition of the Himalayan Blues Festival 2009 includes five days of concerts, clinics and a conference.

For the first day, October 7, most of the happening restaurants and bars around town have already been booked and stages set ready to let release the Blues tunes. October 7 is the Blues around town day, as stated in a press release of the event.

Blues Business, Mike Garner Band, Jimi Hocking, Kniki and Band, Parachute XVI, Austine Walkin Cane and Mukti and Revival will be performing from 7:30 pm onwards at various restaurants and bars around town.

The other special venues for this year include Garden of Dreams at Thamel, for October 9, and the event is a tribute to late Daniel Pearl.
