KATHMANDU, FEBRUARY 09

Bollywood actor Rajiv Kapoor passed away at the age of 58 on Tuesday.

Rajiv is the brother of late actor Rishi Kapoor who passed away at the age of 67 last year in April, and actor Randhir Kapoor. The youngest of the three actor sons of legendary actor-filmmaker Raj Kapoor, Rajiv who was fondly known as Chimpu, was most known for his role in Ram Teri Ganga Maili.

Rajiv's sister-in-law, actor Neetu Kapoor, posted a picture of the actor to express condolence on social media.

Rajiv had made his acting debut with Ek Jaan Hain Hum in 1983.

The Kapoor 'dynasty', spanning over four generations of entertainers in Bollywood, is one of the most renowned families in the Indian Film Industry. Rajiv's nieces Karisma Kapoor, Kareena Kapoor (daughters of Babita and Radhir Kapoor) and nephew Ranbir Kapoor (son of Neetu Kapoor and Rishi Kapoor) have earned superstardom in the industry while his other nephews Aadar Jain and Armaan Jain, sons of sister Rima Jain, too have tried their luck in Hindi cinema.

The family has suffered some back-to-back losses in the recent past with the family matriarch Krishna Raj Kapoor's passing away at the age of 87 in October 2018. Her death was followed by that of her and Raj Kapoor's eldest daughter Ritu Kapoor Nanda who succumbed to cancer at the age of 71 in January 14, 2020. To add to the family's grief, Rishi Kapoor passed away a few months later in April in the same year.
