Book on monument conservation
KATHMANDU:
Having been in the heritage conservation field for years, Dr Shap-halya Amatya tries to share his knowledge in the field with his new book Monument Conservation in Nepal: My Experience with the World Heritage Sites of Kathmandu Valley. The 257-page book was launched on December 25 at the Garden of Dreams, Thamel by senior artists Indra Kaji Shilpakar and Ram Chandra Awal in the presence of other noted personalities in heritage conservation like Hari Ratna Ranjitkar, Hagmueller Goetz and Niels Gutschow.
“I have tried to share the problems we faced and the successes we had in our attempt to conserve the monuments of Kathmandu valley. I have also written about the ways we can deal with the problems,” said Amatya. “I would like to dedicate this book to my late father, uncle and brother,” he added.
