Brangelina baby : pix to aid charities

NEW YORK:

A week after her birth was announced, the infant daughter of Hollywood power couple, Angelina Jolie and Brad Pitt, is already trading her instant celebrity for charity dollars.

The first pictures of Shiloh Nouvel Jolie-Pitt — following a top secret photo shoot at the couple’s fortress hideaway in Namibia — are to be licensed worldwide by Getty Images, with all the profits going to charity, the photo agency said.

“The photo shoot took place over the weekend, but I can’t give you any more details about that,” Getty spokeswoman Deb Trevino said on June 5, adding that exclusive deals had already been worked out with a number of publications.

It was not immediately clear which charities might benefit from Shiloh’s first baby photos but, in a joint statement, Pitt and Jolie highlighted the high rate of child mortality in poor nations. “While we celebrate the joy of the birth of our daughter, we recognise that two million babies born every year in the developing world die on the first day of their lives,” the statement said. “These mothers and children can be saved, but only if governments around the world make it a priority,” it added.
