Champion school:

An Inter-school Championship was held at the Triyog High School at Dhapasi on September 10 and 11. Fourteen schools participated in the competition. Some of the events were wall climbing, handwriting competition, art competition, aerobics display, hyasya kabita, ad spoof, among others. St Xavier’s School bagged the Triyog Inter-school Championship for the second time. The other trophies that St Xavier’s lifted were Team Second Award, English and Nepali handwriting competition and Hyasya Kabita. — Arun Gyanwali, St Xavier’s School

Knowledge tour:

Fluorescent Higher Secondary School organised an ecological, religious and cultural excursion on September 9. A total of 122 students and four teachers went for an excursion. The students acquired information through observation and interview with the locals and teachers. “Visit to Dhulikhel for ecological study, Kathmandu University to observe the educational progress and Bhaktapur to explore the religious and cultural heritages of Nepal had made the excursion really interesting”, said a participant. — Sujan Thapa, Class IX, Fluorescent Boarding School

Elocution contest:

GEMS held an Inter-house Elocution Contest on September 7 for the students of Grades IX and X. Sixteen students participated in the contest. The students had to recite a poem on topics given to them. The judges were Veena Chaurasia, JN Bhusal and Ghanshyam Bhandari. Akriti Kasaju from the Sapphire house was judged the winner, Alisha Shrestha from the Moonstone stood second, while Deepali Amatya from Sapphire house and Mimansha Joshi from the Emerald House shared the third position.

Helping hands:

The teachers and students of Kamal Netra Chhuna Muna School, Old Baneshwor, on September 1 gave Bholanath Thapalia, a 25-year-old kidney patient, Rs 11,194 for his treatment. The amount was collected through the student-teachers’ donations. Thapalia’s kidneys have ceased to function and he needs a transplantation. Successful play:

The Modern Indian School on August 23 organised an English play, which was participated by students from each house. Shree Nikkshay, Minister of Health and Population, and Jung Bahadur Rana inaugurated the ceremony and encouraged to students to take part in such activities. Annapurna house bagged the first position followed by the Dhaulagiri, Gaurishanker and Kanchunjunga respectively. Fun fair:

The DAV Sushil Kedia Vishwa Bharati is celebrating its Annual School Fun Fair on Obctober 8. The teachers, students, and private entreperneurs are putting up around 40 stalls and the school expects around 1,000 visitors to attend the fair. Talent contests, food stalls and many interesting items are planned for the function. — HNS
