Bhanu quiz held

The Shuvatara school organised the Shuva Bhanu Quiz Contest on the occasion of the 192nd Bhanu Jayanti on July 15. Out of the six schools in the final round, Himalaya Bidhya Mandir team lifted the winner’s trophy, with Adarsha Bidhya Mandir and Arunima school bagging the first and second runners-up position respectively. BNKS debate

The Society for Open Nepal (SFON) Budhanilkantha School (BNKS) Chapter, organised the Second Inter-School Debate at Budhanilkantha School on July 18. Ten students from five Valley schools competed on three different topics — education, technology and health. Sudichha Sharma of New Summit School was awarded the best speaker for ‘Education has produced a vast majority of population able to read but unable to distinguish what is worth reading. How far do you agree with this?’ Animesh Singh of BNKS bagged the award for the best speaker on ‘How modern technology can be used to aid learning in schools.’ BNKS was awarded the overall winner on the basis of the aggregate score of its two participants. Director of Rato Bangla School Shanta Dixit, Rotarian and Toastmaster Godavari Lal Maskay and Managing Director of The Himalayan Times Ravin Lama were the judges.

Poem-writing contest

On the occasion of the 192nd Bhanu Jayanti, Lalitpur PABSON and DAV school organised an inter-school poem-writing competition on July 13. Devendra Khadka was chief guest. Narendra Koirala from Janamaitri Campus, Begendra Subba from RR campus, and Lawanya Dhungana were the judges. Shotantra Gautam and Niva Bajracharya from the Nightingale school stood first and third, while Nayana of Paradise school stood second. They were given certificates and prizes.
