Celebs dish out Thanksgiving dinner
LOS ANGELES:
Hollywood action men Kirk Douglas and Harrison Ford donned aprons and grabbed serving spoons to help dish out Thanksgiving dinners to Los Angeles’ homeless here on November 21.
Douglas, 90, was joined by Indiana Jones star Ford and a bevy of other celebrities who served up meals of roast turkey, mashed potatoes and gravy to the needy at the Los Angeles Mission on Skid Row.
It was the third year in a row that Douglas, the star of iconic Hollywood classics such as Spartacus and Ulysses, has hosted the annual charity event at the downtown shelter and the Anne Douglas Center for Women.
Douglas thanked fellow celebrities and public figures for supporting the event.
“It is also inspiring to see the actors and politicians come and help serve,” Douglas said. “Their involvement will help their souls as much as it helps the guests being served.”
Other celebrities in attendance included Ford’s partner Calista Flockhart.
