Change... life in other words
Every morning we wake up with a list of work to be done. And the most boring part is that the list always contains the same old things to be done.
Wake up, study, prepare for the school, rush to reach school on time, attend classes for six long hours, come back and do the same boring homework, watch that idiot box with mom’s in the background scolding us for not cleaning our room or helping her with her chores and the list continues.
I felt I was just too tired to bear this any longer! I felt like my mind had really become dull. I felt I didn’t have time to laugh or cry or simply have fun. All I needed was a little change in my routine at least so that after few months I wouldn’t feel like a machine. Then one day I tuned into the FM. There I heard an interview where the interviewee suggested some simple way to take off time in spite our busy life. He had said our life is more like a spinning wheel. It is constantly moving at the same speed. And if we seek a change, we’ve got to put some external force increase or decrease the wheel’s speed.
His words made me sit down and think. Then I immediately started making small changes in my routine. The next day, instead of waking up at the same usual time I got up a little early. Obviously, I had more time. So I went out to the terrace and looked around as I was now changing my ways. I saw a lot of things there I had never bothered to see before. The birds, the rising sun — everything looked so beautiful. I was filled with enthusiasm to face the day.
The next day I decided to change the route I took to reach my school. The other alternate route had its own charm. I saw little boys and girls carrying their bags and going to the school and having fun on their way, elderly citizens singing bhajans and others just enjoying their cup of tea.
It was not that I had never walked that way or ever seen them before, but just that I had never noticed them before. These small observations of mine did strengthened my spirit that day. I was very happy. My friends asked why I was so happy. I didn’t have a reason but I was just happy to be alive!
That weekend I rearranged my room — changed the position of my bed, my study table and everything. Now when I look at my room, it inspires me! Surprising, isn’t it? I found a new dimension to look at life. Changes are in fact inseparable part of life and we can’t ignore it! And these small changes in life make a big difference. The best part of these changes is that these days I am always in a jolly good mood and I have even stopped arguing with my mom and brother.
