Computer games to be rated
There’s going to be a crackdown on the type of computer games children can buy, reports say. Some politicians in UK are hoping to give games a rating, in a similar scheme to that used for movies or DVDs. If a game was rated as unsuitable, shopkeepers could get into big trouble if they sold it to under-age gamers. At the moment, there isn’t a rating system that covers ALL games. The politicians hope the plan will protect kids from violence and other bad stuff. According to The Guardian newspaper, the plan could also include telling parents to keep consoles away from kids’ bedrooms. They want games to be played in family rooms, where parents can keep an eye on what their kids are doing. Games with weapons, martial arts and extreme combat are those causing the most concerns.
