LOS ANGELES: ‘Will and Grace’ television star Debra Messing, who plays the scatty Grace Adler in the hit US show, has become a mother for the first time, her spokeswoman said.

The comedy show portrays the antics of a straight woman, played by Messing, and her best friend who is a gay man. The actress gave birth to a boy on Wednesday, publicist Annette Wolf told. “The baby was born last night. There is no name yet. Everybody is fine. Everything is great,” she said.

The baby, weighing 2.7 kilograms is the first child for the Emmy Award winning redhead and her screenwriter husband Daniel Zelman. Doctors prescribed bed rest for Messing toward the end of her pregnancy, forcing her to miss the final four episodes of ‘Will and Grace of this season. Grace was written out of the plot for those episodes. — AFP
