Dr Shrestha felicitated
KATHMANDU:
Isn’t it nice to honour a deserving candidate for his/her efforts and success?
“I feel proud and encouraged,” was an obvious answer that Dr Tirtha Bahadur Shrestha, a
noted botanist and conservationist, gave when he was felicitated by Team for Nature and Wildlife Nepal (TNW) recently at the Department of National Parks and Wildlife Conservation.
Dr Shrestha had recently been awarded with this year’s Jagadamba Shree Puraskar for using Nepali language and literature to popularise science.
A talk programme on ‘Role of Media in Conservation,’ by conservationists and journalists was also organised.
Speaking about his distaste for cruelty against innocent animals, especially during the festival of Dashain, Dr Shrestha said, “We need to fight against such cruel practice against animals, especially those getting ‘sacrificed’.”
