Enchanting the audience
Kathmandu:
It was an exhilarating experience for those who got a chance to listen to Padma Talwalkar who performed on the occasion the 60th Republic Day of India at Tribhuvan Army Officers’ Club on January 27. The programme was organised by Indian Embassy in association with B P Koirala India-Nepal Foundation and Indian Council for Cultural Relations. Padma Talwar’s music is a blend of different Gharana’s as she has learnt it from Gwalior and Kirana traditions and from Jaipur as well. And has also honed her skills required for concert singing. She has been guided from some of the best guru’s from different Gharanas.
With her expertise and amazing vocals she gave quite performance. The first raag she performed was raag Yaman’s Bandish which was followed by Bhajan Surma.
The singing flowed from slow soothing vocals to really powerful tunes, moving from a slow soft pace to a vibrant strong one. The music accompaniment blended perfectly with her vocals that resonated throughout the hall. Along with her captivating singing it was her gracious hand movements that seemed to add to the beauty of the performance. As she sang music enthusiasts, seemed to be completely engrossed in it. After receiving quite an applause for her first performance she than sang a Thungri about Holi as the festival is approaching near, and it was followed by other performances that were highly appreciated.
