Fashion week comes to an end

Kathmandu :

The Sunsilk Nepal Fashion Week (SNFW) wrapped up without any major hitch on August 14. In fact, the final day of the event saw the most seductive and the trendiest of collections, which not only were the finest expressions of creativity on ramp but also an indication that international fashion is no longer alien to Nepal.

The show began with ‘Colours of life’, a hip-and-chic collection, with mostly hand-woven fabrics. But all in all, almost each of the 13 collections held in reserve for the momentous evening were the grandest and the most expressive of the fashion statements throughout the show.

The second collection from the ‘Flaunt Group’ that showcased creations under the theme ‘24/7’ held the audience attention with the cool and classy look. The other sequences that followed were ‘Oriental canvas’, ‘Sarees and Summer Breeze’ (a fabulous collection of multicoloured saris embellished with sequins and embroidery), ‘Hot and Shiny’, ‘Mixed Bag’, ‘Tiramisu’, ‘Hot house flower’, ‘Man who sold the world’ and ‘Call of wild’. While ‘Hot and Shiny’ was heavy on embroidery, ‘Mixed Bag’ was a fusion of the traditional and the modish.

The most seductive among the collections was the ‘Hot House Flower’, a collection inspired by the retro fashion raze of the sixties with a unique blend of floral prints on dazzling denims. The final sequence of the show was no less striking as history seemed to repeat itself with the flowing gothic image of Che Gueverra that represented the revolutionary spirit rife in Nepal.
