From snowy lands

KATHMANDU: Simple, yet splendid. That’s the phrase that’s apt for the photographs and paintings of Zhenqing Jiang and Han Shuli.

The exhibition of the two Chinese artistes are on at Siddhartha Art Gallery, Babermahal under the title ‘Art from Tibet — A World of Snow’.

Photographer Jiang has captured the Tibeten people and their surroundings very artistically. All the photographs are black and white, and the photographer has focussed on local people and their life. Nothing has been elaborated; the photographs are realistic, and the innocent laughter of the children and curiosity-filled shy eyes tell of the simple life that they lead. However, even the photographer’s artistic talent does fails to shroud poverty that they live in or the difficult lives they lead.

Artist Shuli, on the other hand, is engrossed in Tibet’s animals, focussing on the harmony of animal and nature.
