Funky Julie Saury Trio

KATHMANDU: Two years ago, she had entertained the audience of Jazzmandu with her fine drums skills. She had accompanied artistes Bruno Schorp on bass, Daniel Stawinski on piano and Cuban singer Yaite Ramos French at the festival.

Drummer Julie Saury will be back this year too and she will be performing with new musicians at the Surya Nepal Jazzmandu 2015.

“I am so happy to come back to Jazzmandu and bringing you some new musicians,” Saury wrote in an email interview with The Himalayan Times. In the festival, which is scheduled to take place from November 4 to 10, she will come with a funky groovy New Orléans Band, and Ramos on vocal and flute.

Julie Saury Trio will bring funky music in Surya Nepal Jazzmandu 2015. And she can’t wait to share her music with the Nepali crowd and also play with Nepali musicians which is “a very exciting part of the festival for me”.

For the musicians who grew up with music and musicians, “I really like the idea to cross the musical cultures from all over the world in Kathmandu!”

She further writes, “It is my third time here and I always feel the same happiness to be in your country, especially after what happened this year with the earthquake. I wanted to come again to meet all my friends from Kathmandu and be able to meet some new people and new musicians because Jazzmandu is the place to be!”

So, Saury will be here for the jazz festival where she will “enjoy the special and unique atmosphere from your country” along with her performances. Where will you be?
