LONDON: Acclaimed Hollywood director Steven Spielberg lost out on a romance with TV star Valerie Bertinelli because of his dislike for garlic.

Contactmusic.com reports that the couple dated when she auditioned for Raiders of the Lost Ark, which Spielberg directed. But when he did not respond positively to her cooking skills, Bertinelli knew there was no future for the relationship.

She recalled, “I was making dinner for him one evening and I was getting ready to chop up the garlic and he saw it. He said, ‘No, no, no, no garlic!’ I went, ‘Really? Okay.’ In my head I’m thinking, ‘I can’t be with someone who can’t eat garlic’.”
