Getting classical
KATHMANDU: First National Youth Classical music competition was organised by Kalanidhi Indira Sangeet Mahabidhalaya at Padma Kanya Campus on March 19. Indira Shrestha, president of the music school said that they organised the programme with the motive to encourage the youth in taking up classical music as part of their curriculum.
She said that more than 40 young people had come for an audition but only 24 were selected. These 24 participants got to perform to a crowd of music lovers. Among these participants some displayed their talent on tabala and others sang beautifully to different ragas.
Judges were Indira Pandey, Padma Kadambari, Ramhari Gurung and Achut Raj Bhandari. The winners will receive Rs 5,000, Rs 3,000 and Rs 2,000 respectively. — HNS
