Ghalib lands plea deal over assault charge

LOS ANGELES: Britney Spears' ex-boyfriend Adnan Ghalib has struck a plea deal with prosecutors over accusations he assaulted a process server in February (09).

The paparazzo is accused of running over Ram Moskowitz as he tried to hand Ghalib legal papers relating to the singer's 2008 conservatorship case.

Ghalib pleaded not guilty in August (09) to a charge of felony assault with a deadly weapon, but he has now reached an agreement with California prosecutors that will see him face a lesser charge and punishment.

The snapper entered a no contest plea to one count of leaving the scene of an accident on Friday (09Oct09) - in exchange, the two other charges for battery and felony assault will be dismissed.

Ghalib is due back in court on 20 November (09), when he could be sentenced to up to a year behind bars.

He previously faced seven years in prison if he was found guilty.
