Jimmy loves desi Americans

MUMBAI: After acting in the film Kehtaa Hai Dill Baar Baar, Jimmy Shergill seems to have found a great liking for the Indian American community. “During the filming of that movie, I made so many new friends that now I always look for opportunities to go to the US and hang out with my pals. I particularly have a great liking for New York and New Jersey,” Jimmy told.

Come May 1, and Indians in the US will get to see him give a live performance at the Bollywood Awards in Atlantic City. Jimmy is also elated at having bagged a role in Agni Pankh, based on Indian Air Force pilots. He plays the role of Siddharth Singh alias Sidey.

Jimmy has had a chequered career in Bollywood since his debut in Gulzar’s Maachis. Mohabbatein, Dil Hai Tumhara, Mere Yaar Ki Shaadi Hai and Dil Vil Pyar Vyar were just saving graces. His last film, Kehtaa Hai Dil Baar Baar with Kim Sharma, turned out to be a damp squib at the box office. Haasil was average fare even though trade pundits consider him spontaneous and natural. Now he is banking heavily on newly released Agni Pankh. His film Charas is now under production.

Shilpa to stay Khamosh

MUMBAI: Post-Oops!, Deepak Tijori has begun working on his next venture, Khamosh, previously titled Help. However, Tijori maintains, “Help was just the tentative title of the project.” Though Shilpa Shetty has been finalised to play the female lead, the hunt for the male lead is on, says Tijori.

Keeping mum when it comes to Khamosh, the actor-director instead speaks about Kayanaat, which he took over following the ouster of director Shrey Shrivastava. “It is based on the growing terrorism in the country. However, for a change, it doesn’t deal with the Kashmir issue, but is set in Rajasthan,” says Tijori, who has begun shooting for the film.

Bips has a weighty problem

MUMBAI: People are talking about Bipasha! No, no the actress has not stirred up another controversy nor are the rumours that John and she have split are true. But yes, Bips is in a soup! It’s weighty problem literally! Insiders… read filmmakers… insist that she has put on lot of weight especially in those areas where it is needed the least.

Confront Bips on this and she says, “See I have been really busy! My shooting schedules have been so tight that I haven’t had the time to breath. Because of my neck-to-neck schedules I

haven’t been able to follow my daily regimen. But I’m soon going to keep a check on my weight. I don’t want filmmakers to suffer because of me.”

In a brief ceremony, Shah Rukh inaugurated the Blessed Teresa Paediatric Centre at the hospital. “I’m very touched that my mother’s name is associated with the great Mother Teresa,” he remarked. Mother Teresa had once inaugurated the auditorium where he made his speech.
