Gurus’ tika and blessings
Kathmandu:
Dashain is taken as a time away from work, a time to be spent with family and friends.
On October 17, the last day of Dashain, Gurukul and Dabali theatre organised a tika to pay respects to the theatre personalities of the past generation and receive blessings from them.
Eleven senior theatre personalities — Satya Mohan Joshi, Bekha Narayan Maharjan, Hari Prasad Rimal, Shanti Maskey, Keshav Prasad Upadhaya, Abhi subedi, Harihar Sharma, Ashesh Malla, Mohan Himanshu Thapa, Abhi Subedi, and an American national Alex Gargilish — gave tika, jamara and their blessings to all those who came to receive tika. A traditional Newari feast followed the tika ceremony.
Sunil Pokharel, kulguru of Gurukul School of Theatre said, “It is our attempt to pay our respects to the theatre workers of the preceding generation and receive their blessings. This also gives people from the creative field a chance to meet each other and share things with each other.” The Gurukul started organising such a programme from last year.
