There could be no better feeling in the world than being appreciated and acknowledged for one’s immense hard work and perseverance. It was the much-awaited prestigious and popular Close-Up 9th Hits FM Music Awards 2062 and it certainly was the perfect podium for the music artists of Nepal to be acknowledged for all their contribution in making this industry worth it.

The award function kicked off magnanimously on February 3 at the Birendra International Convention Centre. It was an evening studded with all the stars of the music industry of Nepal along with the corporate and movie industry honchos. Close-Up sponsored the event in association with Himalayan Bank, Lumbini Bank, Machhapuchchhre Bank, Hero Honda Karizma and Philips with the Annapurna Post as the official print media

The Hits FM Awards is an award function that acknowledges music talent from all around the country from all possible fields paying tribute to excellence and is entirely devoted to music and artistic freedom. The show was a perfect amalgamation of music at its best with some amazing performances and very impartially chosen winners in every category.

Hits Nepal Pvt Ltd holds the Hits FM Music Awards every year, this one being the ninth one in a row with the sole purpose of encouraging and promoting Nepali artistes and the music industry.

The programme started at the said time with a mind-blowing performance by 1974 AD. They performed their soon-to-be-released single which had a great touch of patriotism in it. Da Nepsydaz, the latest hip-hoppers to rock the nation, followed suit with their cover version of the very popular track Chhundaina Timro Mayale. Other power-packed performances included the very in vogue number Aaundai Jaandai by The Uglyz; the latest enthraller remix Chyangba Ho Chyangba performed by DJ Raju, Mausami Gurung, DA 69, Aid Ray and Kranti Ale; an exclusive instrumental fusion presented by Kutumba, Anil Shahi and Pritam Rai; and a rocking performance by the ever-energetic Abhaya and the Steam Injuns. The RJs of Hits FM too did a fabulous job in hosting the event and making it a perfect evening for the audience.

The function gave the music lovers of the nation an ideal opportunity to see the stars of the music industry at such close proximity and spend an unforgettable evening with them. All the awards were given away by some great personalities of the music and corporate industries of the country.

A total of 19 awards were given away including the Lifetime Achievement Award, which was given to Kumar Basnet. It was a very special moment when he came on stage and received a standing ovation for his unmatchable contribution to music.

Swor Samrat Narayan Gopal and Gopal Yonjon were also given special tributes for their irrefutable contribution to the Nepali music industry. Renchin Yonjon gave a very touching speech on her late husband Yonjon and on his relationship with Narayan Gopal. The music industry of Nepal certainly feels proud to have such gems in its history.

Many other musical legends like Tara Devi were also remembered this evening, for though many of these legends are no more with us, their music and their memories will certainly be deeply embedded in our hearts forever.

Amongst the winners, one artist that grabbed all the limelight was Lochan Rizal for taking four awards home. The ambience, the glitterati and the audience made this show an exclusive function and we are sure Hits FM will keep up to its promise all through and will always let music prevail.
