In honour of artistes

Nava Srijana Kala Kendra to wish its well-wishers a happy new year 2004 and to honour some distinguished and dedicated artistes in the field of music, television, movies and theatre, organised a programme on Saturday at the Royal Nepal Academy.
Nava Srijana Kala Kendra, since its inception in 2001, has been actively involved not only in organising training for newcomers but has been also contributing to service-oriented programmes. And the programme on Saturday was dedicated to Upkar Nepal — an organisation which has been working for underprivileged street children and those artistes who have been in search of the right opportunity.
Chief guest, senior theatre artiste and general manager of Sanskritik Sansthan, Harihar Sharma, honoured 13 artistes from different fields. Sharma congratulating the organisers added, “Nepali music, dance, culture and theatre depict the true picture of Nepal and Nepalis. Now time has come
that youth should take their responsibility to develop our culture, heritage and literature.”
Senior cine artiste Mithila Sharma, singers Ishwor Amatya and Sapana Shree, actress Melina Manandhar, theatre artiste and director Anup Baral, musician Suresh Adhikari, art director Nirjal Shrestha and others were honoured in the programme.
Binod Shrestha, co-ordinator, Nava Sirjana Kala Kendra, shared, “We wish that 2004 brings peace and prosperity in the country. Since the establishment of our centre, we have always believed in the motto ‘to serve is godly’. Through cultural programmes too we can help the needy.”
The programme also comprised cultural programme performed by the artistes of the centre.
