HOLLYWOOD: Since leaping to fame in 2000, Kate Hudson has followed in her mother Goldie Hawn's footsteps playing a funny blonde in romantic comedies.

But that's all set to change after the actress dyed her famous honey locks brunette.

As the 30-year-old turns to more serious movies, she's decided to mark her change of direction with a more sophisticated auburn shade.

‘The How To Lose A Guy In 10 Days’ star was spotted showing off her new looks on location of her new film ‘The Killer Inside Me in Oklahoma City’.

Kate has dyed her hair and had it styled in waves for her role in the 1950s-set crime thriller.

Coincidentally, Kate's new hairstyle comes as she was launched her new ethical haircare range.

Kate was teamed up with hairstylist pal David Babaii to launch WildAid, an eco-friendly range of shampoos, conditioners and styling products which haven't been tested on animals.

‘The Killer Inside Me’ stars Kate as Amy Stanton, the schoolteacher girlfriend of a Texas sheriff who becomes a sociopath murderer.

Casey Affleck plays the sheriff Lou Ford, along with Jessica Alba as a prostitute and The Mentalist star Simon Baker as the attorney attempting to expose the killer cop.

Filming started this week and the film is scheduled for release next year.

Meanwhile, Kate is rumoured to have started dating New York Yankees baseball player Alex Rodriguez, who was linked to Madonna in the aftermath of her split from Guy Ritchie last year.

Kate reportedly spent last weekend with latest man, New York Yankees baseball player Alex Rodriguez.

The actress - who was still blonde - was spotted checking out Alex in action when his team played the Minnesota Twins at Yankee Stadium in New York City last Friday.

Divorcee Kate and Alex, 33, were reportedly seen kissing at the Mustang Grill restaurant in Manhattan after the game later than evening.

A source told the New York Post: 'A bartender was asking patrons not to go in the back room around 1am because A-Rod and Kate Hudson were back there making out.'

A server at the eaterie confirmed: 'Yes, they were here together.'

The couple was then repeatedly seen outside A-Rod's Manhattan apartment over the weekend.

When asked about the alleged romance, Alex's publicist said he had 'no comment'.

Since splitting from her ex-husband Chris Robinson in 2006, Kate has been romantically linked to a host of famous men.

As well as an on/off relationship with You, Me & Dupree co-star Owen Wilson, she has also dated Dax Shepherd and Lance Armstrong.

In January, she was photographed holidaying with Australian golfer Adam Scott in Hawaii.

Kate has a five-year-old Ryder from her seven year marriage to Black Crowes frontman Chris.
