IWC raises Rs 2.5 lakh for charity
KATHMANDU:
What happens when fun and cause goes hand-in-hand? It feels good, of course. With the intention to help needy women and children, the Indian Women’s Club (IWC) had organised a
raffle sale recently and has managed to garner a fund of Rs 250,000. The beneficiaries are the Himalayan Girl Children Foundation, Bhaktapur Cancer Hospital, Umbrella Foundation and Balmandir Orphanage.
The raffle draw was held at the Indian Embassy on November 14.
The chief guests were noted entrepreneur Ambica Shrestha and IWC president Nalini Mukherjee.
Fifty-five lucky persons won various prizes like a refrigerator, TV, two-way tickets to Delhi and Kolkata, and stays at leading hotels and resorts. Everest Bank, United Telecom Ltd, Indian Airlines, Surya Nepal, Uniliver, Nepal SBI, President Travels, Dabur Nepal, Pepsi, Hiltake and Comfort Designs were the sponsors.
“Thank you so much. What you have done will benefit a lot of children and women,” said Shrestha. Mukherjee thanked all and hoped everyone enjoyed the event. — HNS
