Jolie to star in ‘Beowulf’ and Kenyan documentary

Los Angeles:

Angelina Jolie has signed on to star in a big-screen version of the classic tale ‘Beowulf,’ about a Scandinavian hero who slays a beast. The movie will be directed by Robert Zemeckis and will also feature Ray Winstone, Crispin Glover, Anthony Hopkins, Robin Wright Penn, John Malkovich, Alison Lohman and Brendan Gleeson. The movie will hit screens in 2007.

News of Jolie’s participation coincided with an announcement that she will also feature in a documentary about her trip to Kenya with United Nations adviser and economist Jeffrey Sachs.

“The Diary of Angelina Jolie & Dr Jeffrey Sachs in Africa” will air in September on MTV and chronicle their trip to Sauri, a group of remote villages in western Kenya where Sachs’ UN millennium project team is working to end poverty, hunger and disease, MTV said in a statement.
