Kathmandu Lux Beauty Stars selected

Organised by Nepal Lever Limited (NLL) and India Education Centre (IEC) and managed by Vogue Event Management Company, the selection round for Lux Beauty Stars in Kathmandu went smoothly and successfully at Hyatt Regency, Kathmandu on April 24. Prabhat Rimal, managing director, Vogue, says, “Lux is an exclusive brand and we are looking for someone who can represent that brand.” The event in Kathmandu saw 72 beautiful girls from all walks of life on the ramp with poise and confidence.

Cecilia Gurung, Aditi Thapa, Gunjana Pandey, Anita Subba, Arathis Gurung, Monalisa Adhikari, Usha Rajak, Youton Lama, Ayushma Pokharel and Pallavi Dhakal were selected as the 10 Lux Beauty Stars from Kathmandu. Altogether 20 Beauty Stars from Pokhara, Dharan and Kathmandu will compete in the finals from May 12 – 22. During the 10 days they will be groomed on make-up, poise, walking with confidence, dressing, fashion and style. The judges in the selection round were Shailaja Adhikari, director, IEC and Venkatesh, national sales manager, NLL. Venkatesh said, “It has been a great selection round in three different cities. The girls walked the ramp with confidence and that really matters.” Ashish Syangden, master of ceremony, added flavour to the event with his good sense of humour. It takes guts to come on the stage and present oneself with grace and confidence. Many aspiring models did so with confidence even though many were on stage for the first time.

Resha Moktan a class eight student from Daffodil School and a contestant says, “I have not been chosen. But I think I will try my luck next year too. It has been a great experience.”

Sushil Shrestha, brand manager, Himalayan Distillery who was in the audience says, “This is a new trend. Girls are walking on the ramp without any training and I have to admit that they are smart. Good show!”
