Keep the sparkle
KATHMANDU: Jewellery — those expensive and beautiful pieces — are considered “women’s best friend” and for many women these are the items they treasure the most. A little defect or damage and women become frantic to get it fixed. While some damages can only be fixed by professionals, here are certain simple tips to help you keep those blings shining.
• To clean your silverware, use baking soda and damp cloth, clean, rinse and let dry.
• You can use toothpaste or baking soda to polish silver. Both work as an excellent silver polish.
• A paste of salt and vinegar males a really good copper cleaner.
• Toothpaste can help you clean your diamond rings. Use an old toothbrush to rub toothpaste, rinse it and then let it dry.
• To clean tarnished gold and silver rub it with a paste of water and baking soda. After that rinse it and let it dry.
• A solution of one-teaspoon ammonia with a cup of water makes good jewellery cleaner.
• If you need to reset the stone in your jewellery put clear nail varnish in the base, keep the stone in and let it dry.
• You can prevent costume jewellery from tarnishing by putting a thin coat of transparent nail polish over it.
