KATHMANDU: The Kathmandu Film Society will be screening the Italian film La Stanza Del Figlio (The Son’s Room) on December 17 at NTB.

Giovanni (Nanni Moretti) a successful psychoanalyst has to put up with seemingly endless string of trivial details his patients ramble about. Yet his family provides a loving and steadfast foundation for his life that can even survive a problem like their son, Andrea, being accused of stealing a rare fossil. That tranquillity is shattered when a work commitment forces him to sacrifice a father/-son activity and Andrea makes fresh plans to go diving with friends, which ends with a fatal accident.

Giovanni begins to obsessively dwell on the missed chances he had with his son, even blaming his patients.

In addition, his wife is inconsolable and his daughter is becoming anti-social in their loss. In the midst of this turmoil, a secret of their son’s life is revealed that provides healing in a way they never anticipated.

Directed by Nanni Moretti, the film will be screened at 5:00 pm.
