Kollywood’s very own thriller

KATHMANDU: Film buffs might not have to live on a diet of Bollywood movies alone. The Nepali film industry is just about to take a huge leap from just making films for the peanut gallery.

The film Kaagbeni, which is slated for release sometime during December and produced under the banner of Quest Entertainment, not only boasts of an advanced high definition technology, but also a drastic drift from the usual run-of-the-mill productions that panders to the primordial audiences.

As Quest Entertainment’s first venture into production, it aims to begin an era of the avant-garde in the Nepali film industry. Kollywood’s first full-fledged thriller Kaagbeni is based on the story of people living in the eponymous region and is directed by Bhusan Dahal and written by Vaskar Dhungana. The cast comprises Diya Maskey, Saugat Malla and Nima Rumba.

Quest Entertainment has been distributing and screening Hollywood and Bollywood films at Jai Nepal and Kumari.
