Laugh in Russian
KATHMANDU: On the occasion of the golden jubilee of the Nepal-Russia diplomatic relations, the Russian Centre of Science and Culture is organising the ‘Russian Comedy Film Festival’ at the Russian Culture Center from December 22. The event will also commemorate the 85th birthday of the Russian comedy actor Yuri Nikulin, who is best remembered for his daring crusade against the erstwhile extremist Russian political system.
Nikulin is best remembered for his roles in comedies, which were the biggest blockbusters in Russia.
He was also voted the best actor in a 1995 national poll in Russia. But his audience best remembered him for his fearless humour that scoffed the Soviet system without the fear of being punished.
Altogether six Russian films will be screened during the festival, which will continue till December 24.
