Zoya (Chhulthim Gurung) is a dreamy girl who lives in a fantasy world. She works as an RJ at a radio station. And she is always dreaming of getting the love of her life. One day Zoya meets Swopnil (Sunny Singh) at a fun park, where Zoya works part-time as a clown. Swopnil falls in love with Zoya — it is love at first sight for him. They start dating after a few days.
Zoya always jots down her intimate feelings in her diary. But one day this dreamy girl is murdered. Swopnil gets Zoya’s diary and that has the proof of her murderer. This is the story line of Anil Yonjan’s directorial Diarry — a typical love story with bloody action.
The revenge movie, however, is just a mediocre watch — thanks to its predictable plot line, slow pace, not-so-thrilling action sequences.
Written by Chhetan Gurung, Diarry fails to present a fresh story line. Comparatively, the first-half is more entertaining than the second-half. Amusing gags by Zoya and Swopnil’s friends are commendable in the first-half.
Sadly, Diarry turns to action in the second-half and the action sequences lack novelty.
Even the plot line is not coherent. For instance, Swopnil goes to Zoya’s home in Simara after her murder and his best friends (who are always with Swopnil) know about it. But they don’t follow their friend in need or help him. Similarly, Swopnil sends Zoya’s identical twin sister Dia (Chhulthim Gurung) to his home in Kathmandu from Simara. Swopnil’s friends receive her at airport, but they seem indifferent despite meeting someone like Zoya, and their indifference is never justified in the film.
Director Yonjan can’t maintain the film’s suspense. The guessable plot makes the film more tedious. When Zoya is murdered, the audience can easily guess that Swopnil will run after the villain.
Dialogues are not precise. As for the film’s main characters, they seem to be inspired by some Indian movies. Swopnil’s character reminds us of the angry Rocky (played by Zayed Khan) in Rocky film, while Zoya’s character resembles Geet (played by Kareena Kapoor) in Jab We Met.
However Rekha Thapa as Rani is a fresh character. She has done a decent job as the villain. Appearing in a negative role for the first time, she impresses especially with her style — she is a stylish villain. Sadly, her dialogues are not powerful, and do not justify her character.
In double role, Chhulthim is unnatural as Zoya. Her body movement as she speaks is irritating. However, she has done a decent job as Dia.
Singh as Swopnil is apt in his part. His dialogues delivery is natural.
Music directors Swapnil Sharma, Iman Bikram Shah and Manas Raj impress you in the music department.
Their compositions Maya Maya and Kasto Ho Yo soothe your mind while Paisa Na Kaudi is entertaining.
