Meet of social work professionals

Kathmandu:

Kadambari Memorial College of Science and Management organised a meeting for social work teachers from various colleges on January 17 at the college premises. The meeting was organised to discuss the betterment of SW in Nepal. The Asia Pacific Branch of International Consortium for Social Development (ICSD) will be organising a programme at Dhulikhel Lodge Resort from November 26 to 28, with the slogan Social Development and Transition: Paths for Global-Local Partnership.

At the meeting the points of discussion were, firstly, to bring professionals from schools, colleges, NGOs and INGOs involved in social work and the contributions they can make in the programme. As SW is a relatively new field in our country the future prospects and the need for professionals to come together were the points that were brought out during the meeting. The second point discussed was the establishment of a library for SW students which will be named after Fr P T Augustine, erstwhile principal of St Xavier’s.
