Mithila expressions

KATHMANDU:

The Ambassador of Bangladesh Imtiaz Ahmed inaugurated an exhibition titled ‘Collaboration with Mithila Art’ at the Siddhartha Art Gallery on November 19. The exhibition is an outcome of collaborative workshop by artists from Nepal and Bangladesh.

Mithila art is often ceremonial and mostly done only for their ceremonial significance. They form an integral part of the rituals in the Mithila culture and therefore culturally inspired from the ways of Mithila life, culture and living ethos. The different paintings staged in the exhibition represent the simplicity of the lives in the Mithila culture, and at the same time delve into the different aspects of their culture through the use of different mediums.

The exhibition includes paintings of artists from Nepal and Bangladesh including Tayeba Begum Lipi, Mahbubur Rahman, Jupiter Pradhan, Sunil Sigdel, Sita Devi, Sudhira Kumari and Rebati Mandal. (The exhibition is on till December 3)
